“There’s nothing new under the sun”? The artists of UPCYCLED didn’t get that memo. They happily rummage through art history’s attic, unveiling treasures that gleam with new mischief. Each works differently—one reimagines, one reassembles, one rebels—but together they make a delightfully mismatched trio. UPCYCLED is proof that a clever eye, a curious mind, and the nerve to challenge familiarity is what makes originality feel new.

Luis Bivar
The Muse, The Warrior, and The Angel, 2025
50x50 mixed media on round canvas
Luis juxtaposes mythology, mystery, and pop culture in fantastical forests.
Luis Bivar is a Portuguese contemporary figurative artist who lives and works in Lisbon. Bivar makes a point of showing imperfection in his paintings for he believes that a work in progress should be spontaneous, and that “error” is part of any artists’ expression. He believes that new media is a permanent challenge and explores various techniques in his artwork including drawing, mixed media, and more recently, sculpting.
Djamila Fierek
Spaceman in Love, 2024
Acrylic and acrylic pen on canvas
Growing up in Wiesbaden, Germany, Djamila’s childhood was filled with the charm of its historic streets and cultural richness. After completing her education, she pursued her passion of art, history of art, and psychology, earning a masters degree at Ludwig-Maximilians-University in Munich. For 30 years she has split her time between Munich, where she immerses herself in the vibrant art scene - and Scottsdale, Arizona, enjoying the desert landscape and diverse cultural influences.
Djamila incorporates recycled materials and layered acrylics to create luminous, emotionally charged surfaces that aim to evoke optimism and healing.
Tom White
